Harold Dale Sims



A Memorial Service for RET. First Sergeant Harold “Dale” Sims, 75, of Blackville, SC will be held two o’clock p.m., Sunday, February 4, 2018 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ramon Rodriguez officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday. Dale passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.

Born in Savannah, GA, he was a son of the late Hazel LuLu Porter and Harold Sims. Dale started his career as a Sheriff Deputy in Comanche County in Lawton, OK; he then moved to Blackville, SC joined the Police Department where he served as Police Chief for 18 years. After retirement he worked in numerous other departments around the county. He retired from the US Army as First Sergeant and served 3 tours of duty in Vietnam. Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved watching the Alabama Crimson Tide football team.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years Ramona A. Sims; his sons Brian Sims of Williston, Samuel Nathan (Sandra) Sims of North Augusta, SC, Joshua Aaron (Lauren) Sims of Barnwell and their daughter Madison; his daughter Lisa (Gary) Nye of Las Vegas, NV; brothers Gerald (Faye) McDonald of Barnwell, James (Mary) Sims of Virginia Beach, VA; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Ramon and Viola Rodriguez.
