Bob Jolley

Heavens Gain Is Our Loss…….

Bob Jolley (Buren Lee), 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from complications of a stroke that he had on July 24, 2017. He was born June 29, 1931 in Shelby, N.C. to the late Robert and Lorena Jolley.
Bob loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was a gifted athlete and in 1949 signed with a professional baseball team–RC Owls. This was short–lived due to the Korean War. Fortunately, while proudly serving his country in the Navy, he was able to play baseball and serve as manager of a football team.
In 1955, Bob moved to Aiken, S.C., to work for DuPont (Savannah River Site). His entire career was spent as an analyst in the various Labs at the site. He retired with 40 years of service.
He had a passion for golf and he was known in the area as an excellent left handed golfer, winning numerous tournaments throughout the state. He loved all golf courses but his home away from home was the golf course at Cedar Creek. He cherished the friendships that he made over the many years and took pride in knowing all the members.
In addition to his loving wife, Holly Kearse–Jolley, Bob is survived by his son Rick (Sandy) Jolley and his daughter Pam Gilbert. Grandchildren; Jason (AnnLee) Gilbert, Heather (Clint) Walker, Amanda (Brian) Taylor, and Patrick Jolley. Greatgrandchildren; Savannah Gilbert, Aidan and Brynn Walker, and Presley Taylor. Sisters; Ailleen Harrington and Patsy Harmon. Mother-in-law, Nellie Kearse, brothers and sister-in-laws, James and Janie Kearse, Kenny and Phylis Kearse and Yvonne Snider. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Demmis Jolley, sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth and Stan Nabow, brother-in-laws Max Harrington, Tal Harmon, and David Snider and nephew Jodi Kearse and neice Tami Osborne.
A private celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.
