Norman Rhett Dyches



Funeral services for Norman Rhett Dyches, 79, of Blackville, SC will be held eleven a.m., Monday, August 28, 2017 at at Healing Springs Baptist Church with the Reverends Jeffery Ray, Donnie Delk and Dr. Thomas Terry officiating. Burial will be in the Blackville Cemetery with Masonic Rites accorded. The family will receive friends from four to six p.m. Sunday at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, SC. Memorial contributions may be given to Healing Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 394, Barnwell, SC 29812. Rhett passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017.

Born in Barnwell County, SC he was the son of the late Norman Dyches and Reba Grubbs Dyches. Rhett was a graduate of Blackville High School. He was a member of Healing Springs Baptist Church, retired from the S.C. Department of Agriculture; he previously volunteered for the Blackville Rescue and Fire Departments and was a member of the Blackville Masonic Lodge # 63 for 50 years. He loved helping others and enjoyed cooking; he often cooked for the church and supper club. Rhett was an avid fisherman and hunter; he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years Grace Hutto Dyches; a daughter and son-in-law Cynthia D. and H. T. “Tommy” Flowers, Jr., of Blackville; granddaughters Annie F. (Spencer) Carver, Hannah Elizabeth Flowers, great grandsons Spencer Wayde Carver, Welden Rhett Carver; sisters-in-law Christine Kissam and Carolyn V. Hutto.

He was preceded in death by brother-in- laws, Edward A. Hutto and W. B. Kissam.
